To help educate the public on where its property tax dollars are spent, the City has prepared this webpage. For every $100 paid in property taxes to the County of Santa Barbara, the City of Santa Maria receives about $10. The remainder goes to schools, the County, special districts and assessment districts. The County Treasurer-Tax Collector sends annual secured tax statements (bills) by November 1. The bill can be paid in two installments. Click here for an explanation of how the City uses its share of property tax dollars to provide a variety of services. Click here to view an example of a detailed explanation of where your property taxes go, provided from the County of Santa Barbara. Click here for a bar graph breaking down property tax distribution. Click here to find your property's personalized information. View the property tax owed, and details about how much each governmental, special district and educational agencies receive. You will need the street address of the property. |
