HOME INVESTMENT PARTNERSHIPS PROGRAM (HOME)

The HOME Investment Partnerships Program is a flexible grant program, administered by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), which awards monies for a variety of activities such as acquisition, rehabilitation, new construction, tenant-based assistance, homebuyer assistance, planning and support services aimed at developing and providing affordable housing for low and moderate income households. Eligible applicants include states, cities, urban counties, and consortia. For the sixth consecutive year, the City of Santa Maria, as part of a consortium with the County will be eligible for funding under the HOME Program. Funds from the County of Santa Barbara In-Lieu Mitigation Fund are used to satisfy the matching fund obligations.

For Fiscal Year 2008-2009, the City received $364,669 under the HOME Program. The activities funded with these HOME monies that are currently being implemented are listed below.

TENANT BASED RENTAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM
The Tenant Based Rental Assistance Program provides security deposit assistance through Qualified Referring Agencies (QRA) to qualified low-income households that provides grants for up to 50 percent of the required security deposit to low income families to assist with overcoming obstacles to obtaining housing. In order to access the program, participants must apply for assistance through a Qualifying Referring Agency (QRA). If you are interested in the program, please see the eligible participant description below and contact one of the QRA's listed below. PLEASE NOTE: INTERESTED PARTIES MUST BE REFERRED BY A QRA AND ARE NOT RECOMMENDED TO CONTACT CITY STAFF DIRECTLY.
