Your Water The City of Santa Maria has two sources of supply; imported State Water and local groundwater. Although the City has more local groundwater than it needs to meet water demand in the City, imported State Water is used to improve the quality of the water delivered to your home or office. State Water availability is carefully balanced with water quality and demand to provide the most consistent water quality to the City throughout the year. Water service is mandatory in the City of Santa Maria. Visit the City of Santa Maria Department of Administrative Services at 110 East Cook Street, Room 6 to start all of your City services. AT-A-GLANCE For the month of August 2010, the water supply has an estimated hardness of 100 mg/L. The blend is anticipated to be over 90 percent State Water and less than 10 percent local groundwater. This is an improvement in water quality over the first half of the year because of the increased State Water allocation, and a small decrease in the hardness of State Water. Please consider shutting off your water softener or adjusting its settings to reflect the lower hardness. Last updated: July 27, 2010 Back to Utilities - Water, Sewer, Refuse
