VIEW OUR PARKS

Santa Maria has 27 City parks including more than 234 acres of grass, trees and play fields, two public swimming pools, gazebos for summer concerts, plenty of places to barbecue, an 11-acre lake where you can fish, and another park with a replica of the good ship Santa Maria. More parks are being developed to bring residents even more outdoor recreational opportunities. Santa Maria also has a regional park in Los Flores Ranch Park, which occupies much of the 1,774-acre property south of the City.

Looking for a beautiful park setting to rent for a birthday party or special event? Pioneer Park, Rodenberger Park, or Preisker Park may be exactly what you are looking for! If you are interested in becoming a volunteer to help keep Santa Maria parks beautiful, you or your service group may want to Adopt-a-Park, or participate in the Tree of Life program, that allows for you to plant a tree in a park in the name of a loved one. Adam Park
600 W. Enos Drive

The City's second largest park at 29 acres provides lots of activities for all ages. Ten acres of soccer fields are used by hundreds of kids weekly, while lighted tennis courts can help with a family fitness program. The large Minami Community Center offers classes and available rental space for any event. There is also a Bocce Ball Court as well as BBQ pits. Public restrooms are at the Minami Community Center.

Alice Trefts Park
510 E. Park Avenue

This 5-acre park offers the 100-space community garden. Plots can be reserved to produce those tasty fruits and vegetables with a little stress relieving work on your part. This park is adjacent to the Elwin Mussell Center and a portable restroom is provided next to the garden.

Armstrong Park

This open turf area at 2 acres is perfect for the neighborhood.

Atkinson Park

At 6.5 acres, this popular park offers tennis courts, basketball and softball. A Community Hall is available for rental for your next event. In addition, this park has a restroom available.

Buena Vista Park

This centrally located 4-acre park is one of the first parks built by City fathers almost 100 years ago. Amenities include:

  • Playground
  • BBQ pit
  • Picnic tables
  • Basketball courts
  • Horseshoe area

    Fletcher Park
    2200 S. College Drive

    This 2.83-acre park offers a playground, grass area, drinking fountain, a covered picnic area with BBQ pit, and an additional BBQ pit and picnic seating area, perfect for small parties or family picnics. This park also features a decomposed granite pathway that encompasses the park, perfect for afternoon walks. Nearby, you'll find a skate park with ramps.

    Grogan Park
    1155 W. Rancho Verde

    This 6-acre neighborhood park includes a Community Hall, playground and picnic area. The open turf area is ideal for the family touch football game, or just relaxing. This park has a public restroom.

    Hagerman Sports Complex
    3300 Skyway Drive

    The premier sports complex on the Central Coast attracts sports competition from throughout the nation. The Center includes four multi-purpose fields, a snack bar, playground, meeting room, and recreational vehicle parking, and restrooms. The Complex is ideal for softball or soccer tournaments or a wide array of special events.

    Jim May Park
    809 Stanford Drive
    Over half (11 acres) of Jim May Park is comprised of a beautiful large lake full of wildlife encircled by a walking path. The park also includes four half-basketball courts, a playground, and plans for an expansion to include tennis courts. Although no motorized boats are allowed, anglers are welcome. A fishing pier is under construction. There is a covered picnic area (roof but no walls). This park also has public restrooms.

    Joe White Park

    The 2.3 acres at Joe White Park include a playground, picnic area, lots of trees and an enjoyable place for a lunch break for you or an afternoon with the kids.

    Los Flores Ranch Park
    6271 Dominion Road

    Los Flores Ranch Park is the first of its kind regional open space park in the Santa Maria Valley. At 1,774 acres (nearly 2.8 square miles), the property lies about eight miles south of Santa Maria in the Solomon Hills. The park offers the public a rare mix of environmental education, land preservation and recreation, with about eight miles of hiking/equestrian/mountain biking trails. Guided docent tours will be available. Volunteer recruitment is also under way to fill critical park maintenance, docent and hiking guide roles. Training will be provided for all volunteers.

    The hours of operation are:

    Visitor Center Side:
    Friday-Sunday- 8:00am to 5:00 pm with last entry being at 4:00pm.
    Equestrian Center Side:
    Monday through Wednesday- Same (Closed).
    Thursday- 9:00am to 5:00pm with last entry being at 4:00pm.
    Friday- Closed.
    Saturday and Sunday- 9:00am to 5:00pm with last entry being at 4:00pm.

    Maramonte Park
    620 E. Sunrise Drive

    This 9-acre park has a Community Hall, baseball fields, lighted tennis courts, horseshoe pits, basketball courts, a children's playground, and picnic area. Also, Maramonte Park has a restroom.

    Oakley Park
    1300 N. Western

    The City (4-acres) and Oakley School share this site. A regulation Little League field has been home to many aspiring major league players. A playground and picnic areas keep the everybody busy on a weekend outing to the park.

    Perlman Park
    100 N. Broadway

    The 3.5-acre park meanders through multi-family dwellings and high-rise senior living complex. A playground is there for our young citizens' enjoyment. A gazebo and waterfall feature a rose garden and native plant display will please the eye while you enjoy an afternoon in the park. Perlman Park has a restroom on site.

    Pioneer Park
    1000 W. Foster Road

    The rustic setting of this 15-acre park offers a very large private picnic area that can accommodate groups up to 900 with shade from native oaks. Large BBQ facilities, a pavilion, softball field, children's playground and horseshoe pits are also available.

    North Preisker Ranch Park
    801 W. Boxcar (corner of Hidden Pines and Railroad Avenue)
    The park features a covered picnic area with BBQ facilities, a children's play area with a railroad theme, grass area, tennis courts and basketball courts that are shared with Tommy Kunst Junior High School (The general public has access to these courts when school is not in session).

    Preisker Park
    330 Hidden Pines Way

    Located at the northern end of town is Santa Maria's largest park at 40 acres. This park, popular with morning walkers because of its perimeter walk, has all the elements for leisure activities. The duck pond with waterfall highlighted by a replica of the Santa Maria, one of the sailing vessels in Christopher Columbus' voyage to America, is a favorite among children. An old style Gazebo/Bandstand is the location for relaxing summer concerts in the Park. Amenities include:

  • Playgrounds, including softball and volleyball areas
  • Five group picnic areas with BBQ pits, some with electricity
  • Gazebo Areas accommodate from 25 to 200 persons
  • Restrooms

    Rice Park
    700 E. Sunset

    This 3-acre neighborhood park includes a playground for the kids, a baseball field as well as numerous picnic areas are available for your use. There is even a beautiful redwood grove located at the park. Rice Park is shared with Rice School.

    Rodenberger Park
    2700 Santa Barbara Street

    This 5-acre park provides visitors with a large covered picnic area with a children's playground located just a few steps away. A softball field and fitness course are also available for family fun and exercise.

    Rotary Centennial Park and Robin Ventura Field
    2625 S. College Drive

    Rotary Centennial Park and the adjacent Robin Ventura Field, named for the baseball All-Star, are a joint effort of the City of Santa Maria and three local Rotary clubs. The popular park was inspired as a way to celebrate both the 100-year anniversaries of the City’s incorporation and the founding of Rotary International, in 1905. The park features a 10-station exercise trail system, basketball court, beautiful park clock, flagpoles, a drinking fountain, picnic tables, play apparatus, and tot lot, as well as numerous benches and tables throughout the park. In 2007, the City earned a statewide award for this park.

    Russell Park
    1000 W. Church Street

    The just over 1.5 acres at Russell Park are perfect for a Santa Maria style BBQ with the numerous BBQ pits and picnic tables. Also, the new playground is ideal for family and friends' enjoyment. Russell Park has a portable restroom.

    Sierra Vista Park
    809 Panther Drive

    This 5-acre park is home to Kon Field, the City's newest Babe Ruth baseball diamond. The Park includes Edwards Community Center, with a multipurpose room adjacent to a catering kitchen ideal for small parties, meetings, or other activities. A gymnasium with volleyball and basketball, as well as bleacher seating is open to youth activities.

    Simas Park
    516 S. McClelland Street

    Simas Park is a multi-park site. The Santa Maria Indians Baseball Team calls historic Elks Field home. Two other baseball diamonds provide plenty of summer activity. The Paul Nelson Aquatic Center is a favorite with Santa Marians and visitors alike. A lawn bowling green is here too. Sharing the site is one of the Central Coast's premier youth centers, Abel Maldonado Community Youth Center. All this is in walking distance from the Santa Maria Civic Center, Library and the Town Center mall. In addition, the park has a restroom.

    Tunnell Park

    5.5 acres of turf and mature redwood trees make Tunnell Park a beautiful site. This is a shared location with Tunnell School, complete with playground and picnic areas.

    Veterans' Memorial Park
    313 W. Tunnell Street

    This historic 2-acre park is adjacent to Santa Maria's premier indoor event venue, the Veterans' Memorial Community Center. Several plaques and monuments pay homage to those that have fought for our Country's freedom in past wars, while the new playground offers future leaders challenging play time to help develop their young minds. A restroom is available across the street at the Veterans' Community Memorial Center, 313 W. Tunnell Street.

    Westgate Park

    This 7-acre new park offers visitors a large playground, and lots of open space. It is also the site of one of Santa Maria's newest schools.
