The Planning Division promotes the orderly development of the City and ensures that the City maintains a high quality, business friendly, community environment consistent with applicable State laws and the goals, policies, objectives, and programs of the General Plan and the City's Municipal Code.
The City of Santa Maria has created a Mixed Use Ordinance aimed at creating and regulating opportunities to establish mixed use projects within the City. The ordinance seeks to allow the provision of a mixture of compatible office, commercial, industrial and residential uses in order to create a more efficient and pedestrian-friendly environment and infuse new vitality into qualifying underdeveloped properties.
